NORPHAN'S PARTY - REVIEW AND REDUX

Roughly two years ago, several North Alums got together to discuss ways as to how to continue the spirit, support (economic and spiritual) and philosophy that was North Catholic. Quite simply, neighborhood based support for those who desire a Catholic education. The first order of business was to rekindle a reunion of sorts, a party if you will to reignite the passion that was North. In July of 2012, at Keenan’s in North Wildwood nearly 700 alums, families of alums and friends of North gathered. Iconic teachers, athletes, coaches from as early as the 50s attended. While the goal was not to raise any funds, what little was raised was used to help kids who showed need in attending Catholic schools throughout the city.

Jump forward one year, to July 2013, at the same place, nearly 1,000 gathered again, and again we remembered what North was all about. Sadly, a great Falcon, Mr. Ed White passed away prior to our event. Mr. White is forever remembered as a great Falcon, a Salesian gentleman to say the least and the heart and soul of the Alumni Association as its president. Ed, in fact, was the first in line to join our event in 2012. One of the goals of any funds raised was to create a scholarship fund in the honor of Mr. White. Funds raised helped both boys and girls in Catholic schools around the Diocese. With the remaining funds, we donated to the Police Survivor’s Fund and the Philadelphia Vietnam Veteran’s group that is run by Mr. Jack O’Neil, another tremendous Falcon.

We are in the process of organizing the third annual Norphan’s Party, same time, same place. I hope you come and join us, it is one helluva time.
